BGS Global Hospitals organized the World Head Injury Awareness Day Campaign in association with Bangalore City Traffic Police on 19th March 2013.
Dr. M. A. Saleem, Additional Commissioner of Police, Traffic, Bangalore City inaugurated the campaign at the well attended event at Traffic Police Training Office, MG Road.
The event was attended by over 100 guests including the who’s who from the Traffic Police Department including Mr. Lokesh Kumar, Deputy Commissioner of Police - East, Mr S A Pasha ACP - Traffic Training Institute, traffic police personnel and members of the media.
Dr. N. K. Venakataramana, Vice-Chairman and Chief Neurosurgeon, Dr. Guruprasad, Consultant-Emergency Medicine, Mr. Ashok Kumar, Sr. VP (Mktg) and Dr. Ramesh Raju, VP-Medical Services from BGS Global Hospitals were present on the occasion.
The event was inaugurated by Dr. Saleem. In his inaugural address he congratulated BGS Global Hospitals for this endeavour reiterating the fact that 50% of people who die of head injuries are because of road traffic accidents. He was positive that initiatives such as ours would go a long way in educating the public to adopt safe driving practices.
Dr. N. K. Venkataramana, Vice-Chairman and Chief Neurosurgeon stressed the importance of creating awareness about head injury as majority of the deaths occur due to secondary damage and are preventable. He spoke about pre hospital care, right of way to ambulance, and urged people to learn first aid and be a ‘Good Samaritan’.
First Aid boxes sponsored
BGS Global Hospitals sponsored First Aid boxes to be placed in all traffic police vehicles in the city. Dr. N K Venkatramana handed over a First Aid box to Dr. Saleem as a token of this initiative.
